Tyres are one of the items that are most often found in fly-tips. The Newport Tyre Tagging scheme has been introduced to help drive down the number of fly-tipped tyres.
It is a voluntary scheme that aims to work with garages in Newport to make it more difficult for rogue operators to access waste tyres. Garages that sign up to the scheme will be asked to mark their tyres with a unique reference code. Should these tyres end up dumped we should be able to trace them back to the company/individual that collected them. The aim of this scheme is to make it difficult for rogue collectors to carry out waste crime.
The following garages have signed up for Newport’s Tyre Tagging Scheme. This means that they are committed to responsible tyre disposal and are working with us to drive down fly-tipping in Newport.
Newport Tyre Tagging scheme is a partnerships project supported by: Natural Resources Wales, Newport City Council, One Newport, Fly-tipping Action Wales, Gwent Police and South Wales Fire and Rescue Service.
